Ms Rice Efforts for Peace in Israel

The intensive round of Middle East diplomacy ends with US secretary of state final days talk with Israelis and Palestinians

Condoleezza Rice has met Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in Jerusalem and will hold more talks in Jordan with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.

The Israel Authority was pressured by Ms Rice to agree on series of steps to ease Palestinians' lives in the West Bank. So the peace process can go ahead.

Israel pledged to remove about 50 roadblocks in the territory. There are more then 500 roadblocks created by Israeli’s to make the Palestinians‘s life more difficult.

A three-way talks were held between Palestinian negotiator Ahmed Qurei , Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Ms Rice.

The secretary of state is trying to enliven the dead peace process, which was re-launched following a US-sponsored conference in Annapolis in November. It is her second visit to the region in the less than a month.

After four months of Israeli-Palestinian negotiations - which has failed to produce any positive results - Ms Rice is desperately trying to make some gains this time.

Although some 50 road blocks will be removed by Israel, more than 500 others will remain in place. The effects of the removal of this road blocks will be hardly visible to the Palestinian.

"What we have to do is to have meaningful progress toward a better life for the Palestinian people, for economic viability for Palestinians even as we move for the establishment of a state," Ms Rice said.

This peace talks continues to be overshadowed by the pressure on Olmert from the extemist in the Israeli Parliament. Palestinians have also lost faith in Mr Abbas because his approach has not taken the Palestinians near the freedom from the Zionist occupation.

Meanwhile, the Israeli campaign group, Peace Now, says Israel has not stopped a single construction project in Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank since peace talks were re-launched in November. It says there is almost nothing left of a promise to freeze construction. The Israeli government says it never promised a total settlement freeze.

It seems that’s Israel call for peace is a complete eye wash for the Palestinian’s and they keep on building the settlement’s, they don’t have anything  to worry as the world only Super Power is supporting it completely.
